About Jacquie Rhoades

I am a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, mentor, and author. My students, family, and friends have provided the inspiration and encouragement for everything I have written. I especially want to thank my brother, Tom, who taught me to keep moving on no matter what.

The purpose of this blog to highlight concepts found in my publications and share the work of many excellent educators located in the United States and throughout the world.

I, Jacqueline J. Rhoades (Jacquie), hold a Masters of Science degree in education from Mt Saint Mary’s College Los Angeles as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from Long Beach State University. I earned California credentials in elementary (K-8), special education/learning handicapped /severely handicapped (preschool-adult), resource  Specialist (preschool-college), and administration (preschool-secondary).

As the owner of The Reading Company, I received Minority Advocate of the Year awards from 3 members of the United States House of Representatives, three members of the California State Senate, and five members of the California State Assembly.

Reading coordinator, literacy leader, elementary teacher, secondary teacher, special education teacher, college instructor, education specialist in special education for eight northern California counties are among the many roles that inspired the curriculum listed below.

As an instructor, I developed and modified, final products using feedback from my college, K-12 students, and fellow teachers. My service in education led to a local Teacher of the Year Award, Teacher Recognition Award for Outstanding Service in the Teaching of Reading, nominee for National Teacher of the Year, and Merit Award for Outstanding Service as an Adjunct Professor at Dominican College San Rafael Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education Credential Programs.

Jacquie’s publications have been used as textbooks in K-12 general and special education classrooms, university, and homeschooling environment throughout the United States and in fifteen additional countries.
